Classic vehicles in preservation including habitation/living accommodation areas in/on preserved/restored HGV’s are all catered for.

Motorised Horseboxes and Race Trucks unlike Motorhomes and Caravans. are often very bespoke in their design, often no two similar vehicles are alike. The base vehicle often runs a 24v ELV earth-return system, the habitation and working areas a 12v ELV cabled return system. This all brings additional complexity and it takes specialist knowledge to understand the peculiarities of dual-voltage installations in their interrelation for battery charging, powering the on-board fridge, solar charging kit installations etc. Often there is inappropriate battery isolation causing batteries to go flat whilst the vehicle is not operation. The Leisure Vehicle Artisan (France) is fully cognisant of these (and other) issues and is able to work on and diagnose faults with these bespoke installations.

The coachbuilt construction of motorised horseboxes and Race Trucks differs significantly from that of Caravans and Motorhomes where damp ingress if left can become terminal to the vehicle structure. However, it is still an issue with Horseboxes and Race Trucks as it can slowly ruin internal roof and wall finishes and soft furnishings etc. For these reasons, the Habitation service for these vehicle types still includes a full damp ingress check and report.

Often specialist vehicle insurance policies and after-market warranties call for an annual service to be carried out to meet Terms and Conditions in meeting any future claim. This will likely include the habitation area as well as the base vehicle.

Habitation Service

A full habitation service will check the correct functionality, fit and safety of the 12 volt (ELV) and, 240 volt ac (LV) system, Gas System, Water System, Ventilation, Fire and Safety, Exterior Structure/ Bodywork. It includes a full damp ingress check and a Carbon Monoxide (CO) test carried out with all room sealed appliances working (Fridge, heater, boiler etc.). Full, detailed reports produced and the content reviewed with the owner.

Full Damp Inspection

A full damp inspection will take damp readings over the entire interior of the vehicle where accessible without the removal of any panel or fixed appliance. This will be done with industry standard test equipment and a detailed report showing all readings will be produced and reviewed with the owner.

Appliance services

A habitation service does not include a service of individual appliances, only a functional check with a visual inspection. Occasionally however, appliances do need a service to clean jets, burners flues etc. to return them to full efficiency.

Gas Safety Check

A gas safety check will cover all of the LPG system from the point of connection to a bottle (inc. the bottle where it is a fixed installation) to all appliances. All appliances will be checked for correct operation including all flame failure/supervisory devices. The system as a whole will have a “Gas tightness” test to check for leaks and finally a habitation area carbon Monoxide (CO) check will be carried out whilst all room sealed appliances are operating (Fridge, heater, boiler etc.). The installation as a whole will also be assessed for compliance with the appropriate gas regulations.

Alde Heating Systems

Being an Alde Certified Engineer, The Leisure Vehicle Artisan (France) can fault-find, service, replace the Glycol fluid and carry out system upgrades to all Leisure Vehicles fitted with an Alde system, including those that are still under the manufacturers guarantee period, without breaking their Terms and Conditions.
